Oscar Awards to Relocate from Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles

Starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will move from their traditional Hollywood location to downtown Los Angeles, marking the first time the event will be live-streamed on YouTube, as announced by the Academy on Thursday.

Traditionally held at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, the ceremony will now take place at the Peacock Theatre. This concert hall is located in a sprawling plaza in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, known as LA Live, which also features the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Crypto.com Arena.

Decade-Long Partnership for the Oscars

This relocation is part of a ten-year partnership with AEG, the company managing this cultural and sports venue. “For the 101st edition of the Academy Awards and beyond, the Academy is thrilled to work closely with AEG to make LA LIVE the perfect setting for our global celebration of cinema, both for the audience in attendance and film enthusiasts worldwide,” stated Academy President Bill Kramer and Chairman Lynette Howell Taylor in a press release.
