Jamie Raskin, a leading Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, revealed that the Justice Department provided an “incriminating” memo concerning Trump’s handling of classified documents, according to C.
The 2023 document, crafted for Special Counsel Jack Smith, further alleges that Trump concealed several records to benefit his personal business ventures.
The White House dismissed these allegations, asserting that Raskin has “zero credibility” and affirming that Trump “did nothing wrong.”
The full memo submitted to the U.S. House Committee has not been made public, but Raskin referenced multiple excerpts in a letter addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“These new revelations suggest that Donald Trump stole documents so sensitive that only six individuals across the entire U.S. government had access to them,” stated Raskin.
The memo indicated that prosecutors “identified a classified map that Trump may have displayed to individuals aboard” a private plane. Susan Wiles, currently Trump’s chief of staff, was reportedly among those on the flight, as identified in the memorandum.
This document was prepared as part of the federal prosecution pursued by Special Counsel Jack Smith against Trump for retaining classified documents after leaving office.
Trump Denies All Allegations
Trump has consistently refuted any wrongdoing, accusing the Justice Department under his predecessor, Joe Biden, of being weaponized against him.
A federal judge later dismissed the case, citing concerns over Smith’s appointment procedure. Subsequently, Smith withdrew his appeal following Trump’s re-election in 2024, in line with the Justice Department’s long-standing policy against prosecuting a sitting president.
A Justice Department spokesperson did not dispute Raskin’s citations from the memo but dismissed his credibility.
