Oscars to Relocate from Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles by 2029

The Academy has announced that starting in 2029, the Oscars will be moving from their traditional Hollywood location to downtown Los Angeles. For the first time, the prestigious event will also be broadcast live on YouTube.

Traditionally held at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, the ceremony will now take place at the Peacock Theatre. This concert hall is situated in the expansive LA Live complex, nestled among the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles. LA Live is also home to the Crypto.com Arena, where the Los Angeles Lakers play.

Decade-Long Partnership for the Oscars

This move is part of a ten-year partnership with AEG, the company that manages this cultural and sports venue. “For the 101st edition of the Academy Awards and beyond, the Academy is thrilled to closely work with AEG to make LA Live the ideal setting for our global celebration of cinema, both for the in-person audience and movie fans worldwide,” stated Bill Kramer, Academy President, and Lynette Howell Taylor, Chairperson, in an official release.
